Raw & Refined

This renovated 1969 home combines its rich history with a industrial aesthetic. The result is a family home that feels both raw and refined.

The original concrete structure has been preserved, with raw concrete ceilings and exposed steel beams giving the interiors a utilitarian edge. Expansive glazing in the open-plan living area draws in natural light and frames sweeping views of the ocean, Matakana Island, and the Kaimai Ranges.

On the lower level, copper piping and cable trays are left visible embracing the beauty of these functional elements. Timber cladding on the exterior softens the industrial interior, while concrete pavers lead to a redesigned entrance that marks the home’s stunning transformation. The outcome is a harmonious blend of history and modernity, offering both warmth and character.
