Esplanade
Just a stone’s throw from the ocean, this single-level beach house was designed to sit quietly in its coastal surroundings, low-key, timeless, and naturally at home by the sea.
Clad in cedar with a refined board-and-batten profile, the exterior complements the coastal environment while providing durability for a beachfront setting. Built by Reside Construction, the project required careful groundwork due to a high water table and flood zoning. The home is elevated to meet regulations while retaining a sense of belonging within its site.
Arranged in a C-shape, the house wraps around a sheltered central courtyard, protecting occupants from prevailing sea breezes while maintaining strong visual connections to the coastline. Floor-to-ceiling glazing along the front elevation frames expansive harbour views and fills the living spaces with natural light, reinforcing the indoor-outdoor experience that defines this Tauranga home.
